Healthier Air for Your Home

"How to make a life changing addition to your home and breathe easy doing it"

"Dear Surround Air.

"My son is 9 years old and suffers from asthma attacks from time to time, usually triggered by over exertion and or other allergens like pollen or dust. Last Saturday while playing soccer, Billy became short of breath and his chest became very tight. It was hot and humid that day and the field had just been mowed the day before. After a few minutes of rest he was still unable to breathe comfortably so we returned home. It just so happened that my first "surround air" ionizer arrived by mail that morning and was sitting on the porch. I immediately unpacked the ionizer and plugged it in. What followed was quite amazing. Within 5 minutes Billy was breathing normally, this was quite unusual since this kind of asthma attack had previously required medication. That evening I placed the ionizer in Billy’s bedroom. Billy would generally cough through the night, but this night we didn’t hear a sound, the ionizer has remained in his room and Billy is able to sleep through the night in greater comfort. I am so pleased with the results I have ordered five additional ionizer for the rest of the house.

Thank you for a great product."          - G. Hunter, Michigan

Facts About Indoor Air Quality

  • According to the American College of Allergies, 50% of all illness is aggravated or caused by polluted indoor air.

  • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) themselves declare that indoor air is anywhere from 2 to 10 times more hazardous than outdoor air.

  • The EPA also warns us that the indoor air quality is the United States' number one environmental health problem.

  • Today's homes and buildings are built air-tight, and contain a long list of pollution sources  (see list). As a result, natural air-cleansing agents such as ozone and negative ions are kept out, while contaminants are kept in.

  • A recent study found that the allergen level in super-insulated homes is 200% higher than it is in ordinary homes.

  • According to Scientific America, a baby crawling on the floor inhales the equivalent of 4 cigarettes a day, as a result of the outgassing of carpets, molds, mildews, fungi, dust mites, etc.

  • Most people spend well over 90% of their time indoors. In which case, indoor air is going to impact our health far more than outdoor air.

  • The EPA informs us that 6 out of 10 homes and buildings are "sick", meaning they are hazardous to your health to occupy as a result of airborne pollutants.

Eliminate The Contaminants From The Air You Breathe!

The Contaminant:
Dust/Dust Mites.
About 40 pounds of dust is generated per 1,500 square feet every year. Each speck of dust carries about 40,000 dust mites and other illness-causing bacteria and viruses. Negative ions also remove dust particles from the air, which also removes the contaminants residing on them. Ozone destroys the microorganisms carried by dust.

The Solution:
Hepa air filters are highly effective at capturing solid particles such as dust and dust mites. According to the Journal of Hygiene, ionizers help to increase the efficiency of filters, by causing airborne particles to conglomerate, making them easier to capture. Plus, negative ions also cause airborne particles to precipitate out of the air you breathe, and have been found to be extremely effective at controlling dust by U.S. Dept. of Agriculture studies. UV light can be deadly for dust mites.

The Contaminant:
Pollens and Other Outside Allergens.
Pollens, ragweed, and a variety of other allergens find their way into the home from outdoors.

The Solution:
Hepa air filters are commonly recommended filter for allergens, and are generally considered the most effective filter for allergens. Ionizers/negative ions increase the efficiency of filters by causing airborne particles to conglomerate, making them easier to capture. Plus, negative ions also cause airborne particles to precipitate out of the air you breathe.

The Contaminant:
Mold spores, bacteria, and mildew thrive in dampened towels, wash cloths, and moist or humid areas. Ozone destroys molds and bacteria, while negative ions remove floating mold spores from the air. Children in homes with high mold show persistent, cold-like symptoms - 300% more than average.

The Solution:
Mold spores are effectively captured by Hepa air filters, especially with the help of ionizers/negative ions. UV light is deadly against the microbiological toxins associated with mold, and ozone sanitization effective against mildew smells. The ozone sanitizer can be completely turned off if not needed or desired.

Many bacteria are effectively captured by the Hepa air filter, as well as the anti-bacterial pre-filter (which also disinfects bacteria). The germicidal UV lamp serves to disinfect the bacteria trapped by the Hepa filter. Plus, according to studies by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, ionizers/negative ions are extremely effective at reducing airborne bacteria.

The Contaminant:
Chemicals and VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds).
The "new" smell associated with new carpet, newly painted walls, new home, remodeled room, etc. is actually the out gassing of the chemical solutions used to  treat these products. Wood floors are better for the health than carpet, but carpet is much more affordable. Ozone oxidizes these chemical fumes so they are no longer toxic.  Household Cleaners/Aerosols, Insecticides, Pesticides literally poison the air we breathe with chemical fumes and toxins when we use these products.

The Solution:
The carbon air filter is very effective at absorbing chemicals and gases. The ionizer also help to neutralize chemical fumes.

Multi-Technology Approach For Maximum Effectiveness

Air Filtering Technology:  Negative Ions/Air Ionizers

Negative ions have proven to be safe and effective in a variety of studies. They enhance the efficiency of air filters, and attack airborne particles and pollutants wherever they may be floating.

Virtually all particles in the air have a positive charge, while negative ions have a negative charge. In which case, negative ions and particles magnetically attract to one another. When there is a high enough concentration of negative ions in the air, they will attract to floating particles in large numbers. This causes the particle to become too heavy to remain airborne. As a result, the particle will fall out of the air, preventing it from being inhaled into the respiratory tract where it can trigger breathing and health problems.

The ionized particle will then be collected by normal cleaning activities, such as vacuuming or dusting. If the particle happens to be kicked back up into the air again, it will be ionized, and quickly settled out of the air once again.

In nature, negative ions are generated by processes such as sunlight, lightening, waves from the ocean, and from waterfalls. "Concrete Jungles" minimize the natural production of negative ions by disrupting the delicate electrical balance between the atmosphere and the earth. Multi-Tech air purifiers recreate them with electrode pins ("needlepoints") to electrically produce negative ions. This method produces a density that is many times higher than the negative ion level found at Niagara Falls, the highest natural producer of negative ions and one of the healthiest environments in the world.

Air Filtering Technology:  HEPA Air Filtration

HEPA air filters are largely considered the most effective type of air filter for solid particles, such as dust and other allergens.

HEPA air filters are made from very tiny glass fibers that are made into a tightly woven paper. This creates a filter consisting of a multitude of very small sieves that can capture extremely small particles, including some biological agents. Once trapped, contaminates and particles are not able to flow back into circulation, due to the highly absorbent pores of the HEPA air filter.

Air Filtering Technology:  Ultraviolet Light Purification

No other air purification is more effective at neutralizing micro-organisms than ultraviolet light radiation.

Ultraviolet light possesses just the right amount of energy to break organic molecular bonds. As micro-organisms pass by the UV rays radiated from the ultraviolet lamp, this bond breakage translates into cellular or genetic damage for micro-organisms, such as germs, viruses, bacteria, fungi (like molds), etc. This resulted in the destruction of the micro-organisms. The same damage occurs to humans, but is limited to the skin and eyes. UV air purifiers, such as the Multi-Tech XJ-3000C from Surround Air, shield direct ultraviolet light from escaping the inside of the unit, sterilizing only the air that passes through the air cleaner.

Air Filtering Technology:  Activated Carbon Air Filtration

Activated carbon air filters are the most effective type of filter against chemicals, gases, cigarette smoke and other odors.

Activated carbon air filters consist of a vast system of pores of molecular size. These pores are highly adsorbent, forming a strong chemical bond/attraction to odorous, gaseous, and liquid contaminates.

Air Filtering Technology:  Ozone Air Purification

Studies shown that ozone is safe and effective if used properly, and many have found it to be the best way to reduce or eliminate odors. The ozone output in the Multi-Tech Air Purifier is programmable. You can adjust the output, or turn it completely off if not needed or desired.

Ozone oxidizes airborne pollutants, then reverts back to oxygen, transforming polluted air to pure and fresh air.

ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning): "Ozone controls surface mold on packages and walls, and reduces scale development and decay. The presence of ozone . . . . significantly reduces the occurrence of mold."
